LATEST NEWS: The DC City Council
has approved a property tax reduction plan increasing the Homestead
Deduction from $38,000 to $60,000 and reducing the property tax cap
annual increase from 12% to 10%. In addition, a property tax rate
reduction from 0.92% to 0.88% of the assessed value will kick in if the
city runs another surplus. This would be the first property tax
rate reduction in 16 years! Also, disabled residents will get a
50% reduction on property taxes, equal to the senior citizens' discount.
