email: "On Sunday, April 13, Chief Lanier reassigned me from
Commander of the Second District to the position of Field
Commander. This move will entail me being more directly involved
with patrol police work across the city. I was assigned to the
Second District as your commander on April 7, 2006, and in the
past two years the support and encouragement you have given to
our officers here at 2D has been tremendous. You have often, in
person, on email, in letters and cards and in the media,
provided praise for an outstanding group of officers who serve
you selflessly and without expectation of reward beyond that
service." Andy Solberg 8/27/05: There is a lot of talk in the media about a slowdown in the real estate market in many parts of the nation. We are seeing it here in DC as well. The market is still strong, but we are no longer in the frenzy that we saw up until late spring of 2005. Some sellers listing at those frenzied price levels are seeing their properties sit until the price comes down a bit. You might remember the downturn in the early 90's following the late 80's frenzy. Many condos and houses would sit on the market for a year or more. We're not heading there quite yet, but sellers should at least consider the potential slowdown as a risk factor. 8/26/05: I've

CRIME UPDATES IN GLOVER PARK All information has been provided by the DC Metropolitan Police Department August Second District crime stats (Glover Park is a small part of 2D) 10/10/07 Theft occurred in the 2200 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW; an employee reports that at approximately 9:10 PM, an individual removed several personal hygiene items from a display shelf, placed them into a bag and then left the store without paying for them. Theft occurred in the 2400 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW; an employee reports that at approximately 11:20 AM, an individual removed items from the display shelf, concealed them in his clothing and exited the store. One individual was arrested in the case. 10/2/07 Offence occurred in the 2300 block of Wisconsin Ave NW on 9/27/2007. A citizen reports withdrawing money from a ATM machine, and being approached by a suspect. The suspect brandished a knife and demanded their money. 10/1/07 Offence occurred in the 3800 block of W St NW between 9/15/2007 and 10/01/2007. A citizen states that an unknown person keeps calling their home from a blocked telephone number. Sexually explicit messages have been left. 9/24/07 Theft from auto occurred in the 4100 block of W St NW between 12:00 noon and 1:46pm. The driver's door lock was broken and a navigation system and ipod were taken. Unlawful entry occurred in the 3800 block of Beeher St NW 9/23/07 at 5:50 am. Three residents report a subject entered their home without permission and that the subject was found lying next to one of them asleep. 9/21/07 Uttering occurred in the 2400 block of Wisconsin Ave. N.W. between 09/17/07 9:00 a.m. and 09/19/07 5:00p.m. The manager reports that an unknown subject forged checks and cashed them at a bank. 9/20/07 Theft from auto occurred in the 2300 block of 42nd St. N.W. A citizen reports that an unknown subject took his tags off his vehicle while parked on the street. 9/18/07 Theft occurred in the 2100 block of Wisconsin Ave NW between 9/14/07 1:00 pm and 9/17/07 4:00 pm. A citizen reports someone took his laptop computer from a secured area. 9/15/07 Theft occurred in the 3900 block of Davis Pl. N.W. at 3:00 a.m. The cab driver reports that a subject that he transported refused to pay his fair the subject was arrested on the scene. 9/10/07 Assault occurred in the 2000 block of Huidekoper Pl. N.W. at 5:00 a.m. A citizen reports that a subject grabbed her by her arms while she was sleeping. 9/2/07 Theft from auto occurred in the 2300 block of 41st St NW between 9/01/07 8:00 pm and 9/2/07 9:00 am. A motorcycle cover was taken off of motorcycle while it was parked Destruction of property occurred in the 2400 block of 41st St NW between 9/1/07 10:00 pm and 9/2/07 8:45 a.m. The vehicle owner reports someone ripped apart the entire door mechanism and broke the window and door handle. 8/29/07 Threats occurred in the 3900 block of Davis Pl NW at 1:20 am. A citizen reports while involved in a verbal dispute with her mate, he threatened to do bodily harm to her. The case was closed with one arrest. Identity Theft occurred in the 3700 block of Benton St NW between August 10, 2007 10:00 am and August 29, 2007 9:15 pm. A citizen report someone opened an account in her name without permission and made several charges on it. 8/28/07 Theft occurred in the 2300 block of 40th St NW between July 14, 2007 3:00 pm and July 25, 2007 7:30 am. . A citizen reports a friend took musical equipment from her while visiting. Stolen auto occurred in the 2200 block of Wisconsin Ave NW between 10:00 am and 6:50 pm. A vehicle owner reports his auto was taken while it was parked on private property. Theft from auto occurred in the 2200 block of Wisconsin Ave NW between 4:45 pm and 6:20 pm. The vehicle owner reports the driver's side window was broken and cash was taken. 8/25/07 Assault occurred in the 4000 block of Tunlaw Road NW at 1:30 AM. A police officer reports that an individual kicked him and spat at him. One individual was arrested. Theft occurred in the 2300 block of Wisconsin Ave NW, between the hours of 6:45 AM and 3:00 PM; a resident reports that a bicycle was taken. 8/23/07 Assault occurred in the 2300 block of Wisconsin Ave NW August 19, 2007 at 1:45 am. A Citizen reports that she was assaulted by a subject that she had just met. Theft occurred in the 2300 block of Huidekoper Pl NW between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. A citizen report some-one took her green recycle bin from the rear of her home. 8/19/07 Theft from auto occurred in the 4000 block of Beecher Street NW, on August 19, 2007 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM; a resident reports that her bicycle was taken by unknown persons. 8/17/07 Burglary occurred in the 2200 block of Wisconsin Ave NW between the dates of August 16 – 17, 2007 between the times of 5:15 pm and 3:30 pm. A worker reports that the interior office door was forced open. The worker also found an inside office door was also forced open and the office was entered. It is unknown at this time if any property was taken. 8/15/07 Assault occurred in the 2400 block of Wisconsin Ave NW at approximately 7:10 pm. A worker reports that a co-worker accused her of taking something belonging to her. The co-worker pushed her and walked away. 8/10/07 Robbery occurred in the 2200 block of 40th Place NW between the hours of 9:15 pm and 9:20 pm. A citizen reports while walking along, she says a subject came up from behind her and grabbed her. As she fell to the ground, the subject grabbed her purse, then jumped into an awaiting vehicle and fled the scene. 8/4/07 Destruction of Property occurred in the 2300 block of 37th Street NW between the dates of August 3 – 4, 2007 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm. The vehicle owner reports that an unknown substance was poured into the gas tank of her vehicle, rendering it inoperable.
