Guy Mason Recreation Center (3600 Calvert St.):
Guy Mason is a combination of a playground, a baseball field and a
recreation center hosting arts classes, local government meetings and children's
activities. Beginning Monday, August 22, D.C. residents and non-residents
can sign up for Fall 2005 classes. In addition to art, classes include
lessons in language, health and wellness, dancing and music.
for the list of fall classes, costs and info on signing up. Most classes begin
the week of Sept. 25.
Glover Park Day!:
Each summer, Glover Park hosts an outdoor festival on the Guy Mason Rec
Center grounds. Local restaurants offer food, residents organize a giant
yard sale, entertainers play for the crowds, prizes are raffled, and sometimes
even the mayor shows up!
St. Lukes Shelter (Calvert St.
and Wisconsin):
St. Luke's Shelter exists to help people who are experiencing
homelessness reclaim and rebuild their lives through providing
transitional shelter, emergency shelter, collaborative case management,
and job readiness training. Contact Kate McCann at 202-337-4275
for information on volunteering.
Glover Park Citizens Association:
Come to the meetings the first Tuesday of every month (not in summer)
in the basement of St. Luke's Church. Want to volunteer for a
project or hold office? Come to the meetings! You will meet
your neighbors and learn a lot about Glover Park.
