Good Afternoon Community Members,
In follow up to our last Neighborhood Update communication to the community on April 8, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital will begin operation of the concrete batch plant on the construction site of the Medical/Surgical Pavilion beginning Monday, May 18.
As previously announced, testing of the batch plant was conducted during the week of May 4 and the results were very favorable. Sound attenuation and dust mitigation measures were employed to help reduce the sound generated by the batch plant, including the use of special liners and enclosures to help dampen the sound. We are pleased to report that the testing of the batch plant revealed that the sound and dust levels generated by the batch plant were all at levels below that which were previously forecast and presented to the community, and well below all regulatory thresholds.
At the request of the community, utilizing this concrete batch plant helps reduce the number of concrete trucks traveling to the construction site each day and will expedite the production of concrete needed for construction.
If you have any questions about the Medical/Surgical Pavilion construction, please contact Construction Executive Matt Maio, Trammell Crow Company, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-360-5735.
