Neighborhood Update: Georgetown Campus Construction
August 30, 2019
Over the past several months, construction teams have been actively working to build a new East-West Road. This road will connect the Leavey Center and West Road to Reservoir Road and Entrance 4 and will represent the main north entry point to campus via Reservoir Road.
CURRENT CAMPUS ACTIVITY
Entrance 1, Lot A, Lot B: High activity. Placement of ground support beams and underground site utility work continues. As site development progresses, there will be a gradual increase in dump truck activity, and the continuous, required street sweeping to keep Reservoir Road clean.
Exit 0: Low activity. Drivers who use Exit 0 (located on the northern edge of campus) to exit campus to Reservoir Road may continue to do so, but only from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.; otherwise, vehicles must enter and exit campus via Canal Road. With the opening of the new road on September 16, Exit 0 will be barricaded and will no longer be accessible to vehicles beginning Friday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Entrance 2: No activity.
Entrance 4: High activity. Entrance 4 remains closed for construction in anticipation of East-West Road’s opening. Access to Garage 2 now only via Entrance 3. West side of Garage 2 closed through summer. Pedestrian access maintained via Entrance 3.
East/West Road: High activity. Work is progressing in preparation for a September 16 opening for the new East-West Road. Upon the road’s completion, Entrance 4 will become the primary entrance and exit from the north. The two-way road will connect to the Leavey Center, where parkers will access the garage via West Road. A permanent traffic signal will be installed at Entrance 4 later this fall.
West Road: Moderate activity. Roadway closed north of the Leavey Center loading dock. Parkers in Leavey Garage may enter and depart the garage via West Road on Level P3 or P2 to Tondorf Road. Pedestrians are advised to follow signage for alternate routes.
Central Utility Plant: Low activity. Chiller has been installed in the plant with myriad systems connections underway.
Yates Field House: High activity. Construction on-going, while facility remains open. Work is anticipated to be completed by th
