Back in October 2016 I reported in the Blog that Heritage India and Malgudi were closing. The owner has decided to move the restaurant to Cleveland Park at the corner of Wisconsin Ave and Macomb Street, across from Cactus Cantina and near Cafe Deluxe and 2 Amy's. The location at 3238 Wisconsin is the former spot of District 2 Bar and Grille, which did not last long there. The Zebra Room held the space for a long time in a different era. Current plans are for a February or March opening.

Heritage India applied for a new Class "C" liquor license on December 2nd, 2016 and is expected to receive approval on January 30th at a Roll Call Hearing at DC Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration. Any protests will be heard at a March 29th protest hearing.
The Wisconsin Avenue strip has not been ideal for some restaurant owners who prefer some outdoor space for patrons. The Cleveland Park location allows for outdoor seating for 14 people. In addition, the current upper level location not readily visible from street level was an issue as well. The 3800 square foot retail space remains available at a "negotiable" rent.
