Aaron Gordon, owner of Little Beast Restaurant in Chevy Chase DC, will be opening "Ghostline" at 2340 Wisconsin Avenue in Glover Park where Town Hall Restaurant vacated nearly one year ago. Aaron's concept is to host various chefs in a takeout-only environment, similar to a food court. The property's 5800 square feet plus interior large open-air courtyard seems to fit with this idea, especially in the current environment. See the full description in the Washingtonian from Amy Limpert, who is a family member with the inside scoop.
Aaron owns Little Beast in Chevy Chase DC, which began as a pizza-centered restaurant, though he has experimented with the rotating chef concept there as well, incorporating a bakery formerly operated as Red Velvet cupcakes, and now Taqueria Xochi, offering Mexican food and drinks. Amy Limpert says that initial ideas for Ghost Food Hall will include fried chicken, ramen and other Japanese dishes, Tex-Mex, pastries, burgers and smoked meats, and of course pizza, though more "New York style" compared what is served at Little Beast. Yes, cocktails will be available as well.
Bryan Davis with H&R retail, the broker for the deal, said that this also will be a pizza-centered restaurant like Little Beast but with different vendors offering a wider selection. He believes it will be a great family-oriented spot and a good fit for the neighborhood. Aaron Gordon, though, has no plan to open the giant interior of the space to sit-down service anytime soon, or possibly ever, according to Amy. Times they are a-changin'...
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls…
For the times they are a-changin'
