Halloween in Glover Park 2026

Only two weeks until Halloween 2026 in Glover Park and the events are piling up! The spooky decorations are in place and the costumes and candy are on order. Halloween in Glover Park is more popular than Christmas, Thanksgiving and National Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept. 19th) combined! Here is a run-down of events popular with Glover Park residents.

Sunday 10/25, 12:00-4:00
Stoddert Elementary School, 4001 Calvert St. NW
A “family-fun event with crafts, carnival-style games, a Halloween costume boo-tique, live music, food trucks and more!” You can buy tickets online for games, activities, food and drinks, while some activities are free. Volunteers are needed to help run things – sign up here to offer an hour of your time. Two food trucks will be onsite – DC Slices (pizza) and Rito Loco (burritos and tacos).

Saturday 10/17, 8:00-11:00
Neighborhood private home
“Join us for the annual night of spooky fun for a good cause, as this year's parent Halloween Party will also be a fundraiser for the PTO, hosted by a 1st grade family.” This is a ticketed event for parents only. Kids have all the other events. Enjoy pizza, appetizers and open bar, all for a good cause.

Thursday 10/29, 9:00-9:30 am
Stoddert Elementary School, 4001 Calvert St. NW
Stoddert students will parade around the school block on the sidewalk, in their costumes. Have your cameras ready, they walk fast.

Octo Beecher Fest
Saturday 10/17, 5:00 – (until the neighbors tell you to quiet down!).
Beecher Street at Huidekoper Place
Each year, neighbors on Beecher Street organize a Halloween block party, centered at Beecher Street and Huidekoper Place. This is a pot luck, so if you are a Glover Park neighbor and would like to attend, please bring a dish to share. Enjoy live music by The Coffeehouse Band!

Trick or Treating
Saturday 10/31, 1 hour before sunset to about 2 hours after sunset.
Glover Park is a central and very popular location for trick or treating due to the tightness of the houses and ease and safety for kids and parents walking around after dark. I think kids are bussed in from as far away as Delaware to enjoy the festivities, and it gets crowded, especially this year with Halloween on a Saturday. The little kids start to come out about an hour before sunset and then things really get going just after dark. Try not to drive through the center of the neighborhood (39th St and Benton) at this time as there are kids walking all over the place and in the streets. The map to the right shows the center of the action.
Thursday 10/29, 5:00-9:00 pm
Hearst Elementary School, 3701 37th St. NW
The DC Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting a Halloween Haunted House in Cleveland Park at the Hearst Elementary School recreation center.
Friday 10/30, 11:00-1:00
Hardy Recreation Center, 4500 Q St. NW
The DC Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting a Halloween party at the Hardy rec center in Palisades. “This spooktacular event will have crafts snacks, activities, and more for youth ages 5 and under!”

Friday 10/30, 3:00-5:00
Giant Food, 3336 Wisconsin Ave NW
The DC Metropolitan Police Department Second District is hosting its annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event at the Giant Food supermarket. Meet your police officers, get some treats for kids and sit in the driver’s seat of a police cruiser. You can even sit in the back seat if you decide to cause some trouble, though I think you’ll need to wear the handcuffs.
Well, no Glover Park restaurant has posted a Halloween event yet. Bummer. I’ll update this when they decide to get festive….
