Hi all! I wanted to share that registration is now open for Girls on the Run–Heart & Sole at Duke Ellington Field (1700 38th St. NW) this spring. Heart & Sole is a program for middle school girls that creatively integrates running with socio-emotional lessons through a research-based curriculum. The goal of the program is to help girls in grades 6–8 learn critical life skills and develop confidence and character, while making new friends, challenging themselves physically, and having fun! The team will meet twice per week for ten weeks beginning March 16. Practices are Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:00 to 7:30 PM and will take place in person at Duke Ellington Field (with COVID-related safety policies in place). The season concludes with a celebratory 5k on Sunday, May 22, at Anacostia Park. The program fee is on a sliding scale based on household income, ranging from $210 - $10. To learn more about the program and register, please visit gotrdc.org. The other coaches and I are looking forward to having the chance to coach your girl and help her realize her full potential. Please reach out to alexp@gotrdc.org or myself at carolinearmstrong19@gmail.com should you have any questions!
