If you have gotten restaurant price fatigue in recent years, now is your chance to get a great meal at a few great restaurants in and around Glover Park. Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week is here, and it has been extended through February 1st. Divino and Xiquet are participating in Glover Park, while Chef Geoff’s and Al Dente - part of the wider ANC3B area – are game in Cathedral Heights. Logos link to restaurant websites.
Xiquet, known for fine Spanish Valencian cuisine, participates through its ground level restaurant, El Taller de Xiquet (“the workshop of Xiquet”). Xiquet prices normally start at $225 plus an optional $225 wine pairing, while El Taller has a restaurant week price tag of $65 plus a $35 optional wine pairing, making it more affordable to sample some of the finest grub (can I say grub here?) in Washington DC in four courses. Note that Xiquet ends its restaurant week offering on January 31st. Xiquet is located 2404 Wisconsin Avenue. See PDF menu below.
Divino – “the vibrant taste of northern Italy” – offers a $40 three-course restaurant week dinner menu. Antipasti selection, maybe a poached branzino or short ribs, I’ll have the tiramisu next… or possibly the mousse al cioccolato. Divino also offers a $25 prix fixe restaurant week menu for brunch and lunch as well, though they have not published a menu. Divino is located at the Glover Park Hotel at 2505 Wisconsin Avenue. See PDF dinner menu below.
Al Dente, at 3201 New Mexico Avenue in Cathedral Heights, offers a three-course Italian extravaganza for $40 at dinner or $25 for lunch. Calamari, eggplant parmigiana, calamarata, fettuccine, lasagna, tagliatelle, pizza, gelato…too much Italian goodness to list here, I just gained two pounds thinking about it. See menu here.
Chef Geoff’s, also at the quad at 3201 New Mexico, also has a three-course dinner for $40, and your first course can be wine or beer – a novel idea. Enjoy their traditional contemporary American cuisine – steak, pasta, sandwiches, salads, plus any desert on the menu, then close with coffee or tea (or even a second glass of wine included. They know how to bring people in). Come earlier for lunch or brunch for $35, with a modified brunch menu. See menus below. Chef Geoff’s offers free parking after 5pm weekdays, and all day Saturday and Sunday. See menu here.
